DEC manages these lands in accordance with the management activities described in the 1992 Pigeon Lake Wilderness Unit Management Plan (UMP) (PDF, 7 MB). The lake is best known for walleye and northern pike, but also contains large mouth bass, white bass and trout. The access and parking area are blacktopped with a port-a-pier for easier access to the lake. Pigeon Lake is found between the City of Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough and receives water from Sturgeon Lake, Nogies Creek, Pigeon River, Big Bald and Little Bald lakes, and other smaller tributaries.
